The tex–lock eyelet in the test
The most popular model of our textile locks is the tex–lock eyelet at Bundle with the D-lock or U/X-lock.
In the length, color and with the U-lock of your choice, the eyelet is versatile.
With the loop-through principle, it offers twice the protection against theft and has even been recognized by ART and Sold Secure as a particularly secure bike lock.
The tex–lock eyelet test by professional cyclists shows how well the combination of U-lock and textile cable performs in practice:
fahrradmagazin.net:
The tex–lock eyelet is a great choice for all cyclists
One of the toughest bicycle lock testers in Germany, fahrradmagazin.net, reports on all topics relating to bicycles and cycling. To this end, the online magazine makes its bicycle tests and bicycle guides available digitally.
The cycling experts were impressed by the innovative functions and unique design at the Texlock eyelet test 2023.
Particular emphasis was placed on its high flexibility. Because unlike traditional bicycle locks, which can be rigid and cumbersome, the eyelet is characterized by its adaptability:
Likewise, the transport was rated very well. The eyelet 2.0 has less weight than the heavy chains of many other locks and is therefore easier to take along on bike tours.
At the same time, the low weight is not at the expense of high safety (ART*2 and Sold Secure).
Another advantage of the eyelet is the paint protection. While sharp metal edges of other bike locks can scratch and damage your bike paint, the soft touch of the textile rope and the rubberized metal parts ensure that your bike stays beautiful for a long time.
Finally, key loss was considered in the Texlock test. If you lose the key from the eyelet, there is no need to worry because you can easily order a new key.
According to fahrradmagazin.net the tex–lock eyelet 2.0 is a great choice for any cyclist who has a focus on safety and comfort.
vit:bikes: Is the Texlock 2.0 really saw-proof?
vit:bikesTV constantly presents different types of bikes and interesting people from the bike world on Youtube and tests bike parts and gadgets. In the following video on the textile lock test, Markus from vit:bikies also tested the eyelet 2.0 and worked on it for almost 5 minutes with a puksaw and bolt cutter.
We have demonstrably eliminated the weak point of the tex–lock 1.0 with the hardened steel core inside. No one can get through the robust rope that quickly anymore...
Speaking of tex–lock weak point. Cycling Claude also tried to destroy the tex–lock 2.0 with all his might.
CyclingClaude: Excited about the improvement of tex–lock 2.0
The German TOP bicycle blogger CyclingClaude has been reporting on road bikes, gravel and urban mobility since 2011. He knows exactly what he is talking about when it comes to bicycle safety, because in his Rhine-Main region Region bicycle theft is the order of the day. He alone has had four bikes stolen in the last 14 years.
He is convinced that anyone who rides an expensive bike will not want to let it out of their sight on the road for any length of time. No matter where, no matter what lock. With this in mind, he had tested the tex–lock 1.0, i.e. the textile cable without a steel core, and justifiably criticized the sawing safety.
At Eurobike 2018, he revised his test verdict on the tex–lock 1 .0:
Armed with a saw he had brought along himself, he tried in vain for over two minutes to cut the tex–lock 2.0. The tex–lock withstood the sawing attempt, unlike the saw itself, which cut its teeth on it.
Claude is convinced of the further development and safety of tex–lock 2.0:
Would CyclingClaude park one of his titanium bikes, secured with the tex-lock 2.0, anywhere?
eBikeNews about the boa constrictor among bicycle locks in the tex–lock test 2020
In the online magazine for e-bikes and pedelecs you will find everything about electric bikes, from e-bike buying advice to tips on equipment and e-bike tests.
The e-bike experts also test bicycle locks for e-bikes for their functionality in practice. After all, the attachment, transport and locking mechanism also serve to ensure the safety of your bike.
In bike lock tex–locktest by eBikeNewsthe eyelet M was put to the test.
It was generally praised for its versatility and recommended for the use of e-bikes and pedelecs in city traffic, for smaller excursions and for locking up several bikes.
For larger cargo bikes or tandems, the e-bike experts recommend the longer tex–lock eyelet L. For road bikes or trekking bikes, they recommend the tex–lock eyelet S in their e-bike bike lock test.
According to eBikeNews ...
UrbanBike.News: The tex–lock eyelet 2.0 is a lock you like to use
At UrbanBike.News, everything revolves around the bicycle as THE means of transport in the city: from classic bicycles to e-bikes and pedelecs to accessories.
In addition, the bicycle experts test bicycle products with a focus on style. Because...
In the tex–lock bike locktest by urbanbike.newsthe eyelet 2.0 scored points for its clever textile rope technology and its many possible applications:
The colourful textile fibres give the fancy bike lock a special twist that fits many bikes.
The soft feel of the lock also makes it comfortable to hold and prevents scratches on the bicycle paint, so that your bike stays beautiful for a long time.
Despite the hard steel core, the eyelet isenormously flexible and, thanks to its unusual design, offers more options for connecting than any standard folding lock, chain lock or U-locks.
The bike experts are convinced of the eyelets price-performance ratio:
cyclingnews.com: Texlock solves all problems of chain locks
The online magazine cyclingnews.com is a heavyweight among bicycle experts. The professionals in various cycling sports test the bike locks to its limits before they compare it with other bicycle locks.
The professionals from cyclingnews.com have given their verdict on the eyelet 2.0in the test in terms of design, safety and handling:
Because U-locks made of hardened stee are not flexible, chain locks have been the first choice for the bike professionals to flexibly secure high-quality bikes to a fixed object.
However, they always criticized the rather high weight and the annoying rattling of the individual chain links. Sure, there are already chain locks that no longer rattle. But there is no chain lock that weighs less with the same security and flexibility.
According to cyclingnews.com, Texlock has solved this problem. The tex–lock is at least as flexible and secure as a chain lock, but lighter and does not rattle. In addition, there are no scratches on the paint due to the textile layer and it has an extraordinarily beautiful design.
The bikers note in their textile bike lock test that the X-lock is a rather small U-lock. And that the security of Sold Secure is only certified when using the loop-through principle.
Therefore, the result of the Texlock eyelet 2.0 Test 2023 is:
thebestbikelock.com has tested the tex–lock eyelet 2.0 for months
Bike blogger Carl Ellis used to think the best bike locks were too heavy, too ugly and too expensive. He only bought cheap bicycle locks of poor quality and no proper safety features.
As a result, he became a victim of bike theft countless times in places all around the world. In 2015, Carl put an end to the series of thefts and created a blog about bike safety and the best bike locks.
In 2022, Carl Ellis couldn't get around the tex–lock. After we added a core of several millimeter thick hardened steel to the textile rope, he personallytested the eyelet 2.0 over several months.
And he noted that the textile rope stands out from any other bicycle lock he ever tested.
Thieves must first fight their way through several layers of high-tech fibres and then work their way through the hardened steel core inside the rope.
He is sure that thieves therefore need all the more tools and time to crack tex–lock 2.0.
This makes it all the more likely that the thief will give up.
The versatility is one of the greatest strengths of tex–lock bicycle lock.
The flexible rope, available in three lengths, offers thousands of possibilities to lock the bike in all kinds of situations. Connecting is easy and differs greatly from other folding, chain or cable locks.
During transport, the blogger hangs the tex-lock around his shoulder or fixes it directly to the bike. Because thanks to the textile coating, which protects the paint, he no longer fears scratches.
Stiftung Warentest about the tex–lock eyelet 2.0 test
Every year, Stiftung Warentest has thousands of services and products, including bicycle locks, tested by independent testing institutes. The foundation makes the test results available to consumers to help them make purchasing decisions.
For its bike lock tests, the organization partly sets its own criteria, such as the load limit of harmful substances in plastics. That is why the tex–lock received a poor result in the Stiftung Warentest 2021 test.
And this despite the fact that the pollutants in our shrink tubes (the connection between the metal parts and the textile rope) complied with the EU standard.
Nevertheless, we rectified this immediately. Since the tex–lock 2.0 test in 2021, we have been using shrink tubes with even fewer harmful substances, which are below the load limit of Stiftung Warentest.
Both in 2022 and in the Stiftung Warentest 2023 bicycle lock, we have not yet been able to demonstrate this improvement.
The orbit in the tex–lock test
This tex–lock orbit is considered an all-rounder among textile locks and has a classic lock body. This was specially developed by tex–lock engineers and makes the bike lock particularly secure against lockpicking. Tests have shown how secure the orbit is against various tools.
The Touring Club Switzerland rates tex–lock orbit as very safe
The TCS is a non-profit association or traffic club that tested 15 different bicycle locks - from frame locks to cable locks and textile locks - with and without force. The price range of the locks tested ranged from 7.95 to 289 francs, i.e. around 8 to 295 euros.
The testers therefore rated the orbit as very secure and emphasized its light weight compared to other bike locks. In addition, the bicycle frame is not scratched by the textile surface. Details in the TCS test.
The mate in the Texlock 2.0 test
The tex–lock mate bolt fits all standard frame locks and provides additional protection against theft.
Because, by securing all valuable bike parts to a solid object with the plugin frame lock chain, the bike can no longer be carried away. Also, no individual parts can be stolen.
(Cool: The mate transport bag for attaching to the top tube or luggage rack is included free of charge .)
How clever and secure the flexible the mate really is, was extensively scrutinized in the "frame lock with chain test":
eBikeNews about the plug-in frame lock chain to fall in love with: the tex–lock mate is refreshingly different
The online experts for e-bikes and pedelecs have not only tested the eyelet in the tex–lock Test 2020 for good, but also the tex–lock mate was extensively tested by eBikeNews.
The result? Spring fever.
According to cycling professional Simon, the mate 2.0 isrefreshingly different compared to usual plugin chains for frame locks and has gained a regular place on his cargo bike for these reasons:
The decision: In combination with the right frame lock, the tex–lock mate makes everyday cycling in the city much easier and the purchase is worthwhile for the rest of the lock's life.
velostrom: The mate as a frame lock extension for e-bikes
The online magazine VeloStrom promotes the spread of pedelecs and e-bikes for better health, quality of life and the environment. To this end, the magazine advises and informs on the topic of e-bikes in a manufacturer-independent, sometimes critical manner and with the necessary view beyond the end of one's nose.
VeloStrom has also taken the tex–lock mate in the bike lock E Bike test in the sights. This is what came out of it:
The cleverly combined layers of material are reminiscent of a rope and are extremely flexible, so that you can find a way to securely connect the e-bike with frame lock against theft anywhere.
Further advantages that have convinced the e-bike expert from Texlock mate in the test are:
Conclusion about the Texlock 2.0 in the test 2023
Before you buy a new bike lock for your bike, be sure to check the results of independent bike lock tests where the lock has been put through its paces.
The test should be carried out by an industry professional and not by a layperson. In addition, the test criteria should be relevant to you.
The results of several tests will give you a better impression than just one test result.

Also helpful: bike lock quality seals from independent testing institutes
In addition to bicycle lock tests, bicycle lock certificates are another method of testing how good a lock really is. Testing institutes such as ART and Sold Secure test the protection against tampering and attempts to break open the lock by force and label a secure bicycle lock with their seals of approval after passing the test. And they do so independently of the manufacturer's specifications.
Because the tex–lock eyelet and orbit have passed these extensive tests, both textile locks are at least ART*2-certified bike locks . The eyelet D-lock Bundle is even ART*3 and Sold Secure Diamond certified. In the U/X-lock Bundle , the eyelet bears the Sold Secure Gold label (you can find out which U-lock is best for you in the U-lock guide to find out).
